OK another benchmark test, just one system, but allways nice to look at the scores:
Full Story At Source
the question i have is why not throw 2k8 setup as a desktop in the mix and see how it performs....
also the depressing thing is that sp1 vista 32bit is slower than rtm... thats not nice
It looks like the link to the source story is missing. I got there by typing in the URL listed on the graph.
One benchmark = conclusion?
I don't think so.
Any FYI:
XP SP3 32-Bit is faster than Vista SP1 32-bit based on that graph.
Yes, this looks to be the correct link
blogs.zdnet.com/hardware
exactly, Swift33. WinVista SP1 will NEVER outperform WinXP SP3.
in short, XP SP3 is still faster than Vista SP1 on any level.
Agreed.
It's been done time and time again by many people.. all with good standing credit with the computer community.
XP wipes Vista.
I bet Windows 95 kicks XP's ass too.. :) or DOS..
Now though, with better hardware (more cpu's & ram), will Vista out perform XP? Could it be more prepared to handle future environments? Perhaps it's been an illusion but Vista even in the early betas seemed to be way more responsive. This obviously isn't going to work for everyone but I am a hardware junkie.
I have to say though, I've moved on to Win2k8 x64 and MAN, this thing is F-ing great.
It seems like it takes the most advantage from a Quad w/ 8gb and a couple raptor 10k drives.
I have Hyper-V RC1 running XP SP3, Fedora 9 and my old Win2k3 dev server running at once w/o no noticable response changes. And that win2k3 machine is running some serious server apps.
xMorpheousx, you are still around...
