For those hunting for the Windows Vista SP1 rtm, if you got your hands on Microsoft Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Release Candidate Refresh 2, you have the RTM bits!!!
Microsoft released this refresh build end of January though Windows Update only to selected testers, but clever people can get the downloaded SP package from the Windows Update download cache and they have the stand alone package of SP1 RTM
Microsoft's Connect site says the following reguarding Vista SP1 RC Refresh 2. I wonder if there's a time bomb in there. Read the last sentence.
Notice: The following Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1) builds represent RC Refresh 2 code. These builds incorporate all tested changes up to Microsoft’s RC Refresh 2 date. Please note that these builds are provided for additional beta testing purposes only and may not be distributed. These builds are provided to you “as is” and are subject to change. Your right to use these builds will expire upon Microsoft’s commercial release of SP1 to the public.
IMHO, they are literally just saying that "your right" to use these builds will expire when SP1 goes public; I doubt if there's a time bomb. Is there any precedant in previous Windows Service Packs?
So while installing SP1, I noticed something really peculiar in the release notes...

the build 18000 has no timebomb i installed it an set up the date to march 2010, no probs.
Just got SP1 RTM from connect and it's the same :) Same build no. It's RC Refresh 2 :)
Folks - the SP i have installed says "Evaluation copy Build 6001"
Do you think that will timebomb , when i try and run the latest SP now it just says SP1 is already installed.
