Windows Vista Shortcut Overlay Remover, aka FxVisor, allows you to either remove or enable the explorer shortcut overlay arrow that is added to all shortcuts. Currently there is no native way to remove the shortcut overlay arrow or to even customize it in Windows Vista, so we have written the Vista Shortcut Overlay Remover utility to enable you to do just that.

Not sure about the RTM/Final release...but in the RC1 builds and previous...deleting the same registry entries as you did in XP also remove the shortcut arrows in Vista.

Not to customize mind you...just removes them.

personally, I like an app that customizes the shorcut arrow in Vista.  maybe there'll be a Vista version of TweakUI (like there was with XP; TweakUI 2.0 & 2.1 can be used on XP & Server 2003) that can not only remove the shortcut arrows on shortcut icons but to change them into light arrows.

I like using "light" arrows on shortcut icons instead of the regular sized arrows.  they're much less bothersome.
