Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1) is an update to Windows Vista that addresses feedback from our customers. In addition to previously released updates, SP1 will contain changes focused on addressing specific reliability, performance, and compatibility issues; supporting new types of hardware; and adding support for several emerging standards. SP1 also will continue to make it easier for IT administrators to deploy and manage Windows Vista. Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Five Language Standalone version can be installed on systems with any of the following language versions: English (US), French, German, Japanese, or Spanish (Traditional).

Read the overview of Windows Vista SP1, including what's new, technical details, guidelines and notable changes.

Read the Deployment Guide for Windows Vista SP1. This guide includes technical information, procedures, and recommendations for installing Windows Vista SP1 in a business or corporate environment.

DO NOT CLICK DOWNLOAD IF YOU ARE UPDATING JUST ONE COMPUTER: A smaller, more appropriate download is available on Windows Update.

dont know what wave0 means....

but if you dont see SP1 theirs a reason... in my case most of my office computers had outdated drivers... basically if windows update doesnt show SP1 and shows drivers as optional updates... update those drivers and then SP1 will show... worked 100% for my office

as soon as we installed some missing chipset and video drivers then tada on next "check for update" it was ready for download/install

I always keep everything up to date, so I didn't have any updates listed to install.

then u have those drivers/programs that have problems with SP1. i have few of them and still im using the rtm sp1 since its released, no problems for me.

bythe way, tommorows release is same as the last rtm because, its still have that problem (file version still shows old build)

means microsoft in all this time just figured out what drivers MAY give problems so it wont install sp1 on those machines.

"wave0" = the first 5 languages only; other will appear later

SP1 is available from the download center only [at this time]. Windows Update will have it in mid-April when the next 'wave" is released.

Can anybody help a BT with a sweet sexy integrated English Ultimate SP1  up and running since RTM (legit, seriously - I was a good BT) get an French SP1 integrated image to use on an HP laptop that comes with restore partition and no media with a legit Family Premium key? I know asking this is officially wrong, but de facto this is just the question of getting the French media with SP1 integrated to install using a regular legitimate Family Premium key. Anybody? Please?

Yes, RanMay, it is officially wrong!

I don't know why you'd need a new image just to install French.. pick the French language during installation.

Hey, Morpheus, I can't pick French - I have the English only version of the ultimate SP1 integrated from connect, there was no French only English, German and Japanese (the usual). I need the French version to reinstall Vista on my girlfriend's HP laptop. there is a legit key, there is no French integrated SP1 media, HP rely on their creepy-crippled "restore disk". Thanks for your help, mate!

Aside from having the original language install disk.. you should be able to change the language of the OS with the French language pack.

Haven't done any of that myself.. but it's what I'd try!

The Language Packs cost money, and they seem more like an add-on to an English OS rather than a true [French] OS. Thenk you for trying though :)

I'll be looking elsewhere.

Note that installing Vista SP1 will change the version number from 6.0.6000.16386 to 6.0.6001.18000.

interesting.  Isn't Windows Server 2008 version 6.0.6001?
