Microsoft and Dell recently partnered up to create a super-cool custom PC in celebration of Microsoft releasing Windows Vista to manufacturing earlier this month. Our own Sean Alexander had a friend on the Windows Team forward on some pictures and information regarding the high end PC. Here are the system specs:
This PC screams -- it has a Windows Experience Index rating of 5.2!
One of these PCs was raffled off at our Windows Vista Ship Party on campus November 10th.
The guts are good, excellents score...
But the case design is not really impressive or flattering...
Try again.
No DX10 card can be included yet because, even if you do buy a Geforce 8800, nVidia hasen't released DX10 drivers anyways, it'll still work as a DX9 card.
But that aside, I like the specs, man do I need a new PC bad.
as far as i know dx10 not out yet even in vista
either way video cards not supporting dx10 yet (not by drivers and not natively)
that pc above sux big time in terms of visual appearance.Dual Analog TV Tuners....... why bother? If i had the $$ for that thing i'd get Dual Digital Hybrid and Dual Sat TV tuner now that would be useful (maybe sattv not for everyone)All in all though, i bet it would be a quite fast pc to say the least.
Maybe I'm just strange, but I sort of like the box. It is nice to see that Dell is learning from Alienware after the purchase. Though the custom looking paint job on the side panels would be a waste in my office since all my computers are under a table and you can only see the sides of one of them (OK, you'd probably have to put that one on the end to be seen, but...).
Though what would be cool would be if the Pearl in the front glowed. I'd imagine it would drive me bonkers after a couple of days (or rather, nights; since I'd probably be able to see the glow all the way down the hallway), but for the first boot or two it would be nice.
Good idea but that chassi couldnt be more boring even if they tried.
The specc is awesome, but I´d take AMD over Intel anytime. If its a gaming PC that is.
OH MY GOD THATS AWFULL!!!
I don't like it because it's a Dell. I used to buy Dell laptops at work. It was like buying a used car from Al's Car King or something. I always had to negotiate the price.
I've got plenty of horror stories about their support for home customers (a lot of people in my family have bought Dell computers) but I won't bore everyone.
I am a bit surprised by the low score of this PC (5.2). I have an E6600 on a P5B-Deluxe Wifi-AP with a 7800 GT (256MB) and 2 Gigs of Corsair XMS PC2-800 CL5 Memory. My hard disks are 3 320 GB 7200.10 from Seagate. Nothing is overclocked in my system and the CPU is undervolted a little. My score is 5.3 but only due to the CPU, the other components are rated at 5.7 and 5.9.
(I am using Vista Ultimate)
If you dont care about the price then Intel is best.
If you do then AMD has better value, more bang for your bucks.
Nice looks like a custom Dimension 9200. But i'm very suprised that it's only rated at 5.2 which is low..
I have a Precision 690, 2 x Xeon 5050 3.0Ghz, 4GB RAM DDR2 SDRAM but only shows 3GB, NVIDIA Quadro FX 4500 (512MB), 2 x 250GB 7200RPM RAID1, 2 x 150GB 7200RPM RAID1, Windows Vista Ultimate
All of my score are 5.8, 5.9, 5.9, 5.7, 5.9
WEI score of 5.7 [:D]
Case looks cheap... [:#]
Not worth spending $5k+ on a system which will get out-dated in a year. [:^)]
