Any important enhancements as a user ??? not technical.
something that feels different?? speed, compatibility, stability???

the look is just like winxp with a different theme... so about that.. nothing new..

Maybe I'll get in one of the later rounds of Beta 1, but for now I have to live off these screenshots...

Bink, did the new Alt-Tab feature make it into Beta 1?

it's Windows Longhorn, but renamed to Windows Vista with new logos, but the theme reminds me of Windows Blackcomb, lol
oh well. i'm interested in the tech updates and the new stuff they are gonna put into it.
as for the look. it's ok. but kinda noobie for me. Windows Explorer needs a more advanced set of options, i think.

i really hope this version of Windows will support user switching when part of a domain :-)
it that feature part of the beta?

also would be cool if the logon screen for domain clients can be made to look pritty like the standalone systems. dont need to show user account in the list. just put a box to type in the user account. woulda been simpler damnit

and one final wish. probably wont ever happen but... would be nice if the startup process for the system lets the user few more details about what stuff is starting up. although Windows starts up faster then some linux distros. would still be nice to have a sorta log for the boot process.

oh one more thing. i hope that they include a better partition managment tool. they need to add support for re-sizing ntfs partitions at least. that goes for the Windows tool, AND during the installation process. ALL major linux distros support very advanced partitioning options. Windows native support for this just sucks

oh yah, cool pics [;)]

It certainly is a big download (and as you can imagine at a trickle from the MSDN servers!). I'm still in the process of downloading it! [;)]

I had just bought the 64-bit edition of XP Pro and wasn't really happy with integration, many programs/drivers aren't supported. When they get VISTA out I hope they will also finally come up with a way to password-protect single files or folders.

I sure hope we don't end up having to buy all new programs to work with the 64-bit platform. I did notice it was nice and fast, but can't do without some programs, all of which were not supported.[|-)][|-)]
