The Administration Tools Pack allows administrators to install the Windows Server 2003 SP2 management tools onto a computer running Windows XP Professional or a Windows Server 2003 family operating system to perform remote server management functions. This is the final version of the Administration Tools Pack; you must uninstall all previous versions before installing this version.

All well and good, but it's been a year since Vista was released, and they still haven't released Remote Admin tools to fully manage servers from your Vista workstation. Really disappointing.

Microsoft doesn't want us to manage AD from our desks so they don't give us the admin tools for Vista but they continue to support it on Windows XP. They should either give us admin tools for Vista or pull them for XP.

Yes, I know you can make the admin tools work on Vista but I need the Exchange 2003 tools and the Live Communications server tools too for them to be useful to me so I do what Microsoft wants. I RDC onto a server to do what I need to do in AD.

RSAT (Remote Server Administration Tools) have been available for install on Vista SP1 beta to beta participants.   Granted, it hasn't gotten the general release that either the Vista SP1 or W2K8 releases have, but it is out there.

I'm also looking forward to the general release of RSAT, but then again, I'm also looking forward to RTM of Server 2008 & Vista SP1.
