The Windows Live Messenger service is reportedly inaccessible by various users around the world. Reports are also prevelant of other Windows Live ID-supported sites not functioning, such as Hotmail, MSN Web Messenger and Microsoft Connect.

Service reliability has been hit hard in recent months, with a number of outages lasting over 3 hours and affecting more than 75% of the user base. Whilst Microsoft is usually quick to respond internally through their Hi-Pri incident system msnalerts, the public are rarely notified through the expected channels such as the Service Status page or other Microsoft sites.

More soon.

Update: Service availability appears to be improving, but 100% availability is yet to be achieved.

Update: Service is returning to normal, no problems for users now trying to connect.

As previous outages, this time also the "Service Status" page said "all systems running". What is the use of the page, does it actually monitor the system or is it a fake page[:^)]

I've seen that page when the service was completely down everywhere and it said all systems up and running.  Even when the service was posted on MSN's home page as being down.

I've noticed some serious performance issues as of recent...particularly when using your custom icons.  It seems to lock up messenger for a few seconds every now and then.

Well there is some real problem with msn messenger live , becuase

I have lost all my groups , like wise i have created 5-7 groups when i was using msn messenger 6-7.5 and now i moved to msn messenger live and from few days my contacts are all gone to a single list and after this i spend allot of hours to move again the people in selected groups after that when i loged in to msn from office it again did the same shit with me and now I am still using msn live with same problem 170 people altogether without any group althought group names are still present without any contact in them

Microsoft services are just becoming trash , and I am feeling that

day is near when microsoft will be ruled out from globe due to its dirty disguisting failed services and applications...[:@]
