Have you ever used Telnet? It's a small console based application that allows you to connect to remote machines. Telnet was included in Windows from at least Windows 95 (could have been in 3.1?). On my Windows Vista Build 5365 installation, telnet.exe is no where to be found. I have filed a bug (Connect users only!) about this, let's hope it's not by design.Edit: PuTTY is a good replacement.Edit2: There is a way to install it - Control Panel -> Programs -> Turn on off windows feature -> check telnet client
I reply to your post on connect with solution [:)]

Telnet wasn't in 3.1, however 'Terminal' was, which you could bind to a port for remote admin of unix workstations.
I feel old, I am only 27
Telnet isn't totally removed from Vista.
Today I browsed to c:\windows\system32 in CMD & ran telnet.
So create a batch file:
use:
c:
cd windows
cd system32
telnet
save as ****.bat & you have telnet!
Go to Control Panel.Go to Programs.Go to Program and Features.Click Turn Windows Feature on or off.Check mark the telnet client.Enjoy.And finally send me a Hello ... !
Another great replacement for telnet is AbsoluteTelnet from Celestial Software.
It supports telnethttp://www.celestialsoftware.net/telnet">telnet>, sshhttp://www.celestialsoftware.net/telnet">ssh>, serial, dialup, etc...

well, that was actually pretty weird on Vista, because when i first got it, i could use Telnet, and then i tried using it on some website, and it like "disappeared"... i looked for it and it wasn't there... so i copied the telnet.exe from my school's computer... but it was soo weird... HOW WAS I USING IT IF VISTA "SUPPOSABLY" DOESN'T HAS IT? AND HOW DID IT DISAPPEARED!??!
