This is what the Windows team is lacking... attention to detail. They can learn a lot from the Office team.

For the love of God will they please please fix that leftover. It's bugged me since god knows when, and I know it's neither here nor there but to still have such a thing in vista.... surely they know abou it, they must just be leavin it in now as some sort of joke [*-)]

I think I'll go report it as a bug on connect, but no doubt many people already have...

Maybe they're gonna tout it as a feature when Vista ships. "Now including an enhanced and updated font installation browsing interface!"

Maybe there should be a Vista Font Centre?

Seriously, is it broken? Does it work? How often do you install new fonts?

Does anyone actually use it to install fonts.  You just need to drag and drop them into the folder??

Microsoft have been struggling with this O/S for at least 3 years. I suppose this stupid little utility could do with far more eye candy, as people might boycott manually installing fonts.

I can't remember the last time I even looked at the dialog, but I'm certain it was way back in Windows 3.1. As Wizard said, I also just drag and drop, or I let the program's installer do it for me.

I agree with the attention to detail statement that was made, though... the Windows Team sure needs to spend more effort on such matters, but I definitely think this one ranks up there as dead last.

Yep, I use once every year to add few fonts, and I've always noticed the old style...

The office team also has a discommunication in at least one thing: to change the path of the default folder to something other than My Documents, which in Word has a Browser button to let you select the folder, while in Excel you have to write the path or use copy/paste to write it down in the General tab of Options...
