Well, Microsoft still puts effort in old Windows versions...

This guide describes how to harden computers that run earlier versions of the Windows operating system. It is appropriate for organizations that have various combinations of computers that run Windows NT 4.0 (Workstation, Server, and Advanced Server) and Windows 98, with or without later versions of Windows clients or servers. This guidance uses a fictitious company scenario (Trey Research) to illustrate how to assess security risks and vulnerabilities in a network infrastructure. It focuses on protective measures you can apply to Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 98 client computers and Windows NT 4.0 servers to improve their security in Active Directory environments. BIG F* DEAL ! Those OSes are dead anyway and why should MS even bother repairing dead products? I don't see the UNIX/Linux world doing the same to their products once a new version comes out and even MAC is so hypocritical in its support. Besides, they're already delaying Vista so trying to rescusitate a dead product or two will only make things more complicated. It's not as if those OSes went through security updates anyway other than IE6 and that's only if you installed the darn browser. Bink, don't make an idiot of yourself. Do you really think anyone would be stupid enough to go back to a deadbeat OS that will never reach the security levels seen in Windows 2000/XP ?

Did you actually download and read the guide you dumbass???

The document is not about going back to NT4 or Win98.The document is not about rescusitate a dead product either.

It is about big company, that unfortunatly, still have Win98 and WinNT boxes, because some old application does not work on WinXP or Win2K...

And I applause Microsoft for release that guide.

Poor StanleeSD...you just made a idiot out of yourself...

oooooh.  OUCH!  StanleeSD sure was jumping to conclusions on that one.  a common mistake some people make.  he sure made a fool of himself to say what he said.

users will need Microsoft Word (any version as long as it's at least Word 97) to view the Threat Mitigation Guide document.  If you dont have MS Word installed, download the Word Viewer applet and then view the document in Word Viewer.
