The fastest Windows Vista notebook we've tested this year is a Mac. Try that again: The fastest Windows Vista notebook we've tested this year--or for that matter, ever--is a Mac. Not a Dell, not a Toshiba, not even an Alienware. The $2419 (plus the price of a copy of Windows Vista, of course) MacBook Pro's PC WorldBench 6 Beta 2 score of 88 beats Gateway's E-265M by a single point, but the MacBook's score is far more impressive simply because Apple couldn't care less whether you run Windows. Full Review
Ironic that they're OK with you running Windows on their Mac hardware (and it works fine with appropriate drivers from Boot Camp), but they won't let Mac OS run on anything but Mac hardware (save for some hacking efforts that are, well, unstable at best).
The "Full Review" and "Source" links have the right URL, but wrong server. They both are trying to hit bink.nu instead of www.pcworld.com.
They let you run Windows because that's the best way to get people to buy a mac right now.
Apple makes all or most of their money from the hardware they sell. The $130 for what I call OSX Service Packs does get them some money also, but it's the same mac fans who pay to upgrade over and over.
They'd have to do alot of work to have OSX work on all the generic PC setups out there.
First woff the price of the review laptop is $2949. Plus they do not compare it to a dell 1720 with the 8600gt processor in it or the $2999 dell xps 1730 with the faster 8700gt gpu in it.
I wish websites would stop posting this review. its not a good factual review if you are going to make such a statement atleast compare it to the fastest pc notebooks.
