I can see some of the stuff I used to work on in the pics... [:D] Can't really say what though and there is definately more to come, but I'll be interested to see what the rest of the world thinks about the new look for Office. Pictures definately don't replace using the interface though... Everyone will have to wait until the betas before they can honestly evaluate the usability of the new design.

Those are, wow, different. I'm sure that most of us will take to the new UI like [insert common saying], I'm just wondering if MS is planning for the hoards of office workers who by some miracle can figure out how to check their email daily with calling support for help. Will there possibly be a menu set included that duplicates the old style menus for those users who cant learn the new system?

Just when OpenOffice.org was coming up to the neat UI of Office 2003, here is Microsoft redefining the UI standards. This looks stunning. The way things are just visible for us to use is great. I think Microsoft is ready to stun the world with Office 12 and Vista. Just wait and watch ppl.

This is a major improvement - even over Office 2003 which I love.  I have one reservation, which is this.......Those new "common task" toolbars occupy a heck of a lot of screen real estate - fine if your screen resolution is 1280x1024 or better, but my poor laptop can only manage 1024x768 so I'll only be able to see about four lines of a Word doc or an Outlook message [:P].   Think it's about time to requisition a new laptop in order to be able to test Office 12 to its' full potential [;)]

Mark, I think you'll find that if you use the default toolbar/menu layout in Office 2003, you might even find MORE usable space with the new UI.

She's running this off a Dell X1 with a 12.1" widescreen and there seemed to be enough free space for text. Plus the fact that no new toolbars will pop up. Was worried about CPU but again that laptop only has a 1.1MHz mobile CPU.

Was dubious. Not so much now.

Still think buisiness won't buy it unless they can turn it all off. It's not worth the trainin cost.
