Next release of Microsoft Windows Vista CTP is set to Februari 21st. This won't be the Beta 2 yet, that is planned somewhere in April. The word is that the Februari CTP is feature complete! [<:o)]

It is not likely that in this CTP round a Longhorn Server build will be distributed.

February 21st? I thought the original intention was to have Beta 2 in December until it was pushed back to end of January?

Isn´t it already done? The Longhorn server, I mean. To what I see on the connect-site... ??

There is a longhorn server image and a longhorn core... [^o)]

Anyway: Looking forward for the feature-complete ctp.

Gee, it would be nice if we are able to install this version on a SATA hard drive, unlike the past 3 versions...

Umm you can install it to sata drives.
You just need a good motherboard that can treat SATA's as if there PATA's.

According to a Microsoft TS at the Chicago Windows Users Group meeting last week, there will not be a Beta 2, only more CTPs until the product is released.

"Umm you can install it to sata drives. You just need a good motherboard that can treat SATA's as if there PATA's." Thanks for your worthless comment. I am using a laptop with a SATA hard drive. I was able to install the first 2 CTP versions of MS Vista with the SATA drivers for my chipset, but then MS broke something with the latest CTPs, and now my drivers do not work when installing. I just expressed a hope that they fixed this issue on this new CTP, because it is going to be a HUGE issue if they finally release Vista with this broken system.

Well its a shame you NEED drivers to use sata's. Thats the problem with most laptops and first gen sata boards.

So far on my Samsung X20 with SATA drive the installation of every Windows Vista CTP did work.

It seems to depend on your hardware.

Oh, and mind, it is CTP - P for 'Preview'. It is not supposed to be bugfree or anything, it is just so the C can have a peek at the T.

hmmmmm........

That really makes alot of sense, They (microsoft) create the windows vista and office 12 beta experience, Then they kill the beta. Face it Microsoft does not want us (the general public)

Getting our hands on or even seeing vista OR office 12.

Forget connect it isnt there, oh yeh and also forget beta place

it doesn't even work, february ctp according to news groups was supposed to be public. when do we get our beta. I recently signed up for the beta experience and got no news letter NOT even an email confirming my registration. is vista broken?

Thats all...
