Microsoft has launched a new site UltimatePC.com for Windows Vista Ultimate customers. It’ll deliver new “Ultimate Exclusives” which will work together with Ultimate Extras.

Whereas Ultimate Extras are add-ons that extend certain OS capabilities, Ultimate Exclusives provide Windows Vista Ultimate customers with unique products and services at special discounts to enhance the computing experiences and enable users to do more with their PC.

Note that Ultimate Exclusives are not going to replace Ultimate Extras.

Microsoft is still working on Ultimate Extras and they have a plan to deliver more new Ultimate Extras in coming year.

List removed per request of Microsoft

The Windows team is launching UltimatePC.com with three Ultimate Exclusives:

  • EVGA: Great deals on EVGA e-GeForce 8800 series graphics cards to enhance your gaming
  • Pinnacle Systems: Exciting offers on consumer video editing software and HD TV products
  • Stardock Systems: Promotional pricing on Stardock Multiplicity for Multi-PC control

Thanks Vishal for the tip

So now they want me to spend more money on products I don't want?  I'm doubting why I went with Vista Ultimate now, all I got was a game and some fancy backgrounds I don't really use.  I guess I should have expected a dud from M$ as the powerpacks always seemed to suck as well.

@jcato77: Noone is forcing you to buy anything. It's just an offer and if you face one of the challenges these softwarepackages resolve, it is nice you can get them with a very nice pricereduction.

@cchance: There is nothing wrong with showing off or any other userexperiences. However, it's not the main part of the reason why you would buy the Ultimate edition.

Microsoft promised with the launch of Vista that the Ultimate ed. would have several impressive extensions that only the ultimate ed. would have and that it would make the Vista experience the best you ever had.

More than one year after the official release, they managed to present no more than 4 extra's where you really shouldn't count the languagepacks as they were produced anyway for the localized versions of Vista. The three that actually do "extend" the experience is a not so impressive pokergame, a bitlockertool that really doesn't enhance the experience for a user unless he has a definate need for disk-encryption and a cute backdroptool that enables a user to have a moving desktoppicture.

Personally I think Dreamscene (the movingbackdropthingie) really does enhance the experience, but only in a very limited way (you usually surf or read mail with maximized windows so most of the time you don't even see the backdrop).

In my humble opinion this is a pretty sad harvest for more than a year of usage and an even longer development period. If you considder the difference in pricetag between the Ultimate ed. and the rest, I think you can expect considderably more than this poor collection of 4.

I still have hope that Microsoft will prove me right with the purchase of this product but I must admit that I am very disappointed. I do not see how these languagepacks enhance my experience (frankly I even think they're irritating, what in heaven's name should I do with a chinese of hungarian languagepack or what should any hungarian user do with a dutch languagepack) and the experience-enhancing level of the other three extra's is 2 on a scale of 1 to 10.

Where's the added value, Microsoft??

"New Windows Vista Ultimate Extras announced"

No, there aren't.  Microsoft hasn't announced any specific new Ultimate Extras.  This should NOT be the headline.  Something along the lines of "New Windows Ultimate Website Announced" would be more appropriate.

Very interesting indeed. On my Windows Vista Ultimate x64 I can't watch the new site because there is no FlashPlayer for Internet Explorer x64.

Yes, I know I can use IE x86 as well.
