Bink.nu was the first last year to write about Windows Codename "Eiger", a light version of Windows XP for older PC hardware, typicaly booted from the network (RIS server).

Today I have a Screenshot of the basic desktop that Eiger brings.

Why is this pointless O/S taking so long to produce?

I have run XP SP2 on a Pentuum 200 with 96MB RAM, and a 1.5Gb HDD. With all the eye candy switched off, it runs OK (a bit slow). Deleted files down to just over 500 MB by trial and error. Do MS know what files are used in their o/s?
