Indeed ReadyBoost may improve performance but it may also "reduce" performance when resuming a PC from Standby mode. Please read the ReadyBoost problems at these pages: http://serverdays.com/2007/05/14/readyboosts-hidden-performance-penalty/ http://www.istartedsomething.com/20070709/vista-sp1-readyboost-bug/ http://blogs.technet.com/robert_hensing/archive/2007/07/07/vista-readyboost-suckage-vista-resume-sluggishness.aspx this "ReadyBoost resume from Sleep mode" problem should be fixed in Vista SP1
