This isn't really a future projection it's more like what you should be able to get today.

I remember about 10 years ago, in school, they were talking about being able to get your shopping trolley full of stuff and paying automatically without having to use a check out. It seems like it is taking a long time. Also, I don't think supermarkets would be too pleased with people walking directly to the items they need and avoiding all of their promotional displays.
