Microsoft have patched a loophole in the Windows Live Signup program that allowed users to register any iteration of live.<countrytld>, e.g. live.co.uk, live.com etc. Now only live.nl is allowed as this is the only country where Windows Live Mail is currently available.

Congratulations to those who managed to secure their early-bird name@live.com address, comiserations to those who missed out... you'll have to wait for the world-wide launch of Windows Live Mail!

Got my .com and .ca :D

I don't think they will delete them, they should've checked their stuff before releasing it to the web.

Are the email@live.com accounts similar to having a personal exchange server? Or is the more like the hotmail account. I have been using their live mail test with my msn/hotmail email for some time now but I still am wondering about this new live service.

My thoughts exactly, psyche.
Every single useless freebie chase aside, are there any reports on possible @hotmail to @live addresses conversion? There were rumours, but even those were more tabloidesque than Neowin rumours (a.k.a. "News").

P.S.: I have 1000 GMail Beta Perpetua invites, who is not 1337 enough and only has 100 invite-only unlimited storage indispensable GMail accounts (n00bz) - brown me up at 1337h4x0rrUlZ@gmail.com

Im a bit worried that if I migrate all my contacts over to my @live.com.au address and shut down my hotmail address and THEN MS decided to shut down all our new live accounts, ill lose all my contacts so i am keeping my hotmail account open. What is the chance that they could close our live accounts??
