Microsoft has launched a new MSN Mobile service in the UK today that lets users buy and download music and videos from thousands of artists on their cell phones. According to the Brand Republic, the download service marks the first time music has been available from MSN Mobile, which has offered e-mail, instant messaging, maps, search, and news on the go since its launch early last year.

Beginning today, UK consumers can download over one million tracks and over 10,000 music videos from artists on all four major record labels. The report said that the content licenses and platform for MSN Mobile Music come from a partnership with VidZone Digital Media and builds upon what's already in place with Microsoft's Xbox Live service and the MSN Video portal.
