Video codec firm DivX has been discussing the possibility of its support for the codec on the Xbox 360, with DivX CEO Kevin Hell commenting that the company is "in discussions" with Microsoft, but that it is "not a certified or licensed product at this time."

JP Morgan analyst Paul Coster questioned DivX CEO Kevin Hell in a Q&A session at the JP Morgan SmMid Cap conference transcribed by financial site SeekingAlpha, immediately following DivX's recent financial results.

Hell seemed caught off-guard when Coster mentioned hearing at a recent Microsoft conference about DivX's codec being incorporated on Microsoft's media extender, asking whether that relationship would extend to the Xbox 360.
