CoreConfigurator is a Basic GUI configuration utility for Windows Server Core 2008. Very cool if you're not really into the command-prompt.

Features of build 1.0.139 are:

  • Product Activation
  • Configuration of display resolution
  • Clock and time zone configuration
  • Remote Desktop configuration
  • Management of local user accounts (creation, deletion, group membership, passwords)
  • Firewall configuration
  • WinRM configuration
  • IP configuration
  • Computer name and domain/workgroup membership
  • Installation of Server Core features/roles
  • Download At Source

Does this seem silly to anyone else.   Microsoft made version of windows and stripped off the GUI to make it small and then someone makes a GUI for the CLI  : )

They didn't take away the gui, they took away explorer, there's a difference. no gui would mean booting into something that looked like a linux console, and you wouldn't be able to load apps like notepad on the core.
