ok they make stuff like this? I never knew their was an automated way to check the entire network for update readiness to new OS's did they have this when XP was released or is it a completely new product?
Hi,
There wasn't any network-wide assessment tool like Microsoft Assessment and Planning (or Windows Vista Hardware Assessment) back in 2001 when Windows XP was released.
Yes, this is a new "product" for the Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 waves. The good part is that MAP is a free downloadable tool: http://www.microsoft.com/MAP
Thanks,
