Bink no longer Microsoft MVP [:O]

I was quite surprised when I heard I didn't get the award this year, later a bit disappointed and a bit pissed of to be honest. The reason is the Windows Server product group did not accept my nomination, because "I don't help enough people" Hmmm, that's weird, In my humble opinion I did more for "the community" then ever before, Bink.nu visitors have more then doubled.

Pointing a few million people each month to the the latest Microsoft news, tips, guides and downloads, doesn't seem to count anymore, besides that I did more pro Microsoft stuff last year, like speaking at events, writing columns for UK Windows XP magazine.

They said Bink.nu is better in Microsoft's "Expert Zone Featured Community" program. Well OK, but why have other webmasters been re-nominated this year. I don't know why the MVP program is suddenly this inconsistent.

Anyway thank you Microsoft for having such a program and being part of it for two years.

Ah man! That sucks.. I've been watching your site for the past few years, and I think it's a great site for Microsoft News, and I think you are of great value to the community.. But hey, maybe next year they'll reconsider..

It may have something to do with MVPs having access to NDA material -- and you being the author of a popular news site.  I know you haven't spilled the beans or anything.  Leave that to Neowin.  As usual, a few idiots ruins it for everyone.  Keep up the good work.

Sorry to hear that Bink but as you know, awards aren't everything.

Take your recognition where you can get it and I know plenty of people are giving it to you right here with daily visits.

I've been relying on this site for close to a year now and really do appreciate it.

Thanks bud (I mean Bink).

Hi,

don't take that too serious.

I think almost every visitor of this site would vote for you, and as you wrote, there are a few million, so don't think about this award.

Go on, and keep up that really great work.

Bink, I think that is a poor call on their part.  I can understand that you must feel disappointed as you do.

Mate I think everyone here agrees 100% that this is the best MS news site on the web and has been for a long time.  It keeps going from strength to strength and I am sure it will only a matter of 12 months before you are back on the MVP list again!!

Sorry about your bad news mate.

while bink.nu may belong in featured communities, but what does that have to do with being an MVP?  The professional work you do, the articles and appearances you have made, not to mention the fact that you are the only one who has a non microsoft site dedicated to helping IT Professionals.

I would be a little pissed off my self.  I know that you where that honor as a badge of pride.  That it means a lot to you, both personally and professionaly.   I think that microsoft should seriously reconsider thier decision.  Keep fighting the good fight

Sorry about not getting re-nominated Bink, your site has surely been an inspiration and true information resource for me here in Jamaica.

I have learnt so much from the tips and articles you have posted about Windows Server 2003. I definitely know you will be back on that list soon.

No worries mate. I don't visit this site because of any award given, or not given by MS.  I come here because you are devoted to giving us the latest updates to the world of MS software and computer hardware.

Recognition comes from the inside Steven, not what anyone can hand you.  We know you've done a great job, and so have you....and that's all that matters.

I love you site and have been comming to it for a couple of years now.  I first came accross it when trying to make boot cd's and have been hooked ever since.

Probably the worse thing about not being MVP anymore is you don't get to download the Free OS's and Applications from MS anymore.  Sorry about that.  Keep up the good work though.

I am more of an opensource-guy, but I do read your blog (and Scoble's). I do not know how Microsoft measures what one does for the community and how many MVP's they want to have, but I guess your blog should be one of them. I do like it over ActiveWin/Neowin.

Perhaps that is the "thank you"-message that you get if you do not want to ignore what the opensource can give to the (Windows-)world. Now that you are not an MVP anymore (I did not even know that you were) you can at least blog more freely about things you find interesting.

BTW, I was unable to use this reaction-form with Mozilla Firefox 1.1 (is still in beta, so might be too new), so I had to refer to the generally less secure IE6.

Hi Bink! Sorry for you but you really think you got the MVP just because you're leeching news from other sites ? [;)] Be serious! Microsoft gave you the MVP because two years ago you published a lot of resources about cracking XP keys and other Microsoft hacking related concepts. Of course, when you received the MVP, you was more "professional" and you removed the content. Now, as you are in the good Microsoft side, this is not necessary to keep you MVP. That's all ! [:D]
