I just tried to launch Apple's new Mobile Me service and was surprised by this notfication when launching with Internet Explorer 7. This is something I haven't seen covered in any of the major trades or even Apple's own site until now which has up until now noted that IE would be supported which I guess is technically true. It's also interesting the ordering of the buttons below. Normally I'd expect "Get Safari" to be on the far-right. When other services don't support Firefox, users get up in arms.

To be fair, maybe MS web2.0 apps shouldn't (fully) support Safari. Not that any sane Windows user would use Safari anyways.
Please remind that it is IE that doesn't support the web standards, not safari and Firefox... But that's an answer you would expect from a Mac user...
Sure, IE7 doesn't fully support them, but then it's a web developers job to work around that, i.e. quorks mode, or however you spell it.
Last I read, MobileMe wasn't supporting itself. Wasn't there a number of issues migrating their content from .Mac, opening their email, etc..? I bet those damn users were on IE7. Maybe one of the MobileMe users were viewing with IE7 and it plundered everything.
All joking aside, I wish that this type of message (aka sneaky advertising) was illegal. I know, I know, you all sound like my mother; "everyone is suing everyone to much". Anyway (and simplified), Microsoft was severely sued for having a built in browser, media player, etc, to me that sounds nuts. So, when it comes to this type of situation, which isn't new by the way (How long did it take iTunes to officially support Vista..? A year..? Longer? Um, does it even really yet?), the word slander is the first thing that comes to mind. Actually, and believe it or not unfortunately, slander is really the only thing that comes to mind when I think about some companies. I used to really love certain companies, then these things I never thought I would have, principles, kicked in. So now instead of the "happy" thoughts I used to have I'm left with a type of disgust. Just remember, we as consumers don't benefit from competition alone, we benefit from fair competition.
