Windows-Now.com: You know, here's the kind of thing that REALLY irritates me about Microsoft. They've had Smartphones out for years. They've had a music player ecosystem out for a while too. And they were the first major company to have WiFi built into a music player, with music sharing. So why in the HELL did Apple just beat them to the punch with a WiFi music store? They just released EXACTLY what I envisioned for the Zune by introducing the iTunes WiFi Music Store, and making access free from any Starbucks with a T-Mobile Hostspot.
But Microsoft, all is not lost. You can still come out ahead in this game, and here's how I think you should do it:

Thats funny Steve. Since Zune's release I have sent feedback to Zune team blogs & feedback site numerous times on those very suggestions. Microsoft needs to focus on giving Zune streaming capabilities. Its probably the one area Apple hasn't touched. There is no reason that streaming capabilities couldn't provide...basic/standard definition Media Extender experience for Media Center, stream content from Live.com service like SkyDrive or Windows Home Server and even XBox harddrive. With streaming a Zune add-on for Windows Mobile would minimize the need for storage. Beyond that, Microsoft also has a problem it needs to straight out...it vision for entertainment. Right now the platforms are fragmented. Microsoft needs to unify these things into a single entertainment ecosystem and open it up to developers.
lol who hasnt been saying this since day 1, someone needs to actually get a hold of the zune team and tell them they need to get this done... and they cant say the device cant handle it because, the menu system for the zune store would be identical to navigating the current library on the zune, WTF are they waiting for? And now that the touch ipods are out i hope microsoft is taking note for the zune 2 which i pray will be soon, especially in apples biggest let down that they can beat back on, people didnt mind a thicher touch as long as it had a 120gb... but instead they released an ultra slim 12gb... people need more space, but they want the sex appeal at the same time.
So how about 2 versions a flash 4" ultrathin zune2 and a thicker 120gb (still relatively thin) 4" zune 2 .... BOTH as well as the Zune 1 with the damn Zune Store Mobile, as well as all the other points this article pointed out theirs no reason that it isnt done already! Microsofts dropping the ball, whats taking so damn long to join the zune and xbox marketplaces for video and music? i mean hell i should have my zune music on my 360 and my 360 videos on my zune PERIOD. Not to mention wheres the mac support software? And wheres the damn updates they primised for podcasts?
For a product that got a B rating from their execs you'd think they'd be working their asses off to improve it.
The marketplaces should be across all platforms tha tmicrosoft has deemed entertainment, Zune, 360, and MediaCenter... PERIOD WTF are they waiting for? I mean dear god i actualyl considered getting a damn touch, but then realized how small 12gb really is.
OH AND THIS IS A BIG ONE MICROSOFT!!!! BlueTooth a2dp for the next zune is REQUIRED, apple is rumored to be implementing it for the touch and its the 1 big thing since day 1 i've been saying the zune should have shipped with from day 1, just like wifi.
Guys guys, calm down. If you have been following anything, it is that MS is bringing their products together. Just yesterday there was a very good article on Windows Mobile. Yes, they've been in the game for years but the audience wasn't there. Now they are creating a solution and a place for each of their product lines. This strategy takes time and a lot of smart people.. and money, all of which is there. I think they are managing all of their HUGE projects just fine.
The Xbox 360 spring update is a perfect example of where we are headed.
