This is an odd cause and I have found the solution, but would like to know why it happens...
I use my computer a lot. I use it for games, works, the lot. I tried the new games on it (FEAR and Battlefeild 2) and within about 5 seconds of them running, then computer froze. That was it, it wasn't gonna do anymore. No mouse movement, no responce.
And if you pushed Num Lock on the keyboard, nothing happened. But games like UT2004 and Sacrifice (the older ones) ran fine!
Yesterday I was using Microsoft Word when the computer froze again. No responce what-so-ever! It happened twice. I have no idea why, but I had the sudden erge to turn off hyper-threading. (I don't know why... Lack of sleep and voices in my head.) And Fear ran! (Didn't test Battlefield 2 because it was wiped and I couldn't find my CD). The computer never froze again!
However, after playing about one and a half hours of playing FEAR, the computer froze! But... it recovered about 10 seconds later. But FEAR started lagging so I quit. It took about 3 minutes for it to close. And if I tried to do anything, the computer would just complain and not do it. (Also explorer.exe was using 98% of the CPU...) Hard reset and we are playing again.
Also if you are wondering, I turned hyper-threading back on today, FEAR froze, reset computer, Windows froze. Turned of hyper-threading and we are back on-line again.
Can anyone tell me what is wrong with my hyperthreading? I like to use both my processors since I bought them.
