Whenever starting up my pc, it takes a very very long time to start windows after entering the username,password and domain, system hangs up at the message that says: "loading personal settings"....When trying to logon as a different user, everything goes fine, and logon proceeds in a normal time......tried a lot of things like disjoining and rejoining the domain, refreshing the machine's policy, but no use.....What could be done here ????

Might be something corrupt in the user profile. Login as another admin user and rename your problem profile. Restart logon as the user in question, and logoff and back on again as it will take some time for the profile to create itself again in the first place.

i did delete the problem profile totally and tried to login again, same problem !! i tried everything.....now its time for the thing that i avoided to go through which is a clean format !!!

Are there any differences in the group membership of the two profiles you are testing?

Could be a problems with DNS for that account. Probably you was unable to log on to domain and computer was waiting for the domain controller to authenticate and the log on with cached credentials when failed. That could probaly be because yuu've enabled firewall on your account but not on that you were able log on to.
