    Boot into a Menu....

Hi Guy's ..I need your help, going around and around in circles and its drivin me mad....
I want to, using BartPE or WinPE, to make a bootable CD/DVD that boots, (and loads everything into a ram disk BSmile then goes into a XP style menu with the option to, FORMAT a specified drive or partition, and give the user a choice of Software to install, then do a Unattended Install of XP, and the choosen Software....

Any help would be greatly appreciated as its driving me mad.

Windows PE 2005 Will do the RAM Disk for you.

I don't know what you mean by an XP Style Menu but you can edit the startnet.cmd and thats everything that happens on startup befor the user gets to the command prompt.

To do the unattended install you just need to copy the i386 folder from your source along with your unattended.txt file and script it out the rest of the way...

    Hi,

Using WINPE you have 2 options.

    1. Boot WinPE to a batch menu (basic functions)

    You then have access to:

    • diskpart (Partitioning)
    • Format (Formating !)
    • Net Use (mapping network drive)
    • Once you have a network drive mapped you can run an unattend install of Xp from a network location.

Boot WinPE, with scripting support enabled, to a HTA (Advanced Functions - HTA, VBS, WMI)

For my build process I use a combination of HTA, VBScript, WMI & batch scripting.

It does all of the stuff you mention above and quiet a bit more.

Hope this points you in the right direction.
