    Re: bridge.dll

The file bridge.dll is part of an adware which installs itself normally as IE plugin in the folder 'c:\%SystemRoot%\Downloaded Program Files'. With XP SP 2 and IE 6 you can manage the plugins and try to remove it from the properties dialogue in IE.

    If that fails ....

You can remove the dll from the CMD console where you easily can browse the directory with 'dir' (there it should be seen). It can be removed in the console or with Ad-Aware Tools like Pest Patrol, Ad-Aware etc.

    Success
Having found out that bridge.dll was to do with adaware, I installed and run SpyBot this elliminated the problem (and found quite a few other gremlins too).
I run Ad-Aware6 frequently so I am puzzled as to why this didn't pick them up!!

    Re: bridge.dll

Adware 6, or Adware SE Personal should be ran as a companion to Spybot S&D.  Each one may pick up what the other had missed.

Adware/Spyware programs are like AV programs....very few people actually writing the code to keep our PC's clean and safe, compared to those that are writing the spyware/virii.  Each company focuses on certain aspects of PC security, so having more than one spyware program installed is a good thing.

Note:  Having more than one AV installed is not a good thing.
