    How to disable TCP/IP properties?

    Hi All,

I want to disable the TCP/IP properties of WinXP Pro (SP2). Because i dont want my user or other users to do any changes on those options.

What should i do (in registry etc.)?

Thank you for any help you may give me

OK, first up, only Administrators can change those settings, so if your users are running as they should be (local users only) then it won't be a problem.

Otherwise you can lock everyone out via group policy.

    Start/Run/GPedit.msc

    Navigate to:  User configuration/Administrative Templates/Network/Netowrk Connections/

Probably the two keys you want to change are called "Prohibit access to properties of components of a LAN configuration" or the other one I would change is:  "Prohibit TCP/IP advanced configuration".

Remember...set up your connect BEFORE you do this stuff otherwise you probably won't be able to do it yourself.

If you are running a Domain/Client setup then that would be the best way to go about this.

What Operating System are you using then?

And if your users able full admins then you have bigger issues than having them change network settings!

My instructions should work for Win2K, WinXP (sp 1 & 2).

Unless I just don't understand what you are looking for in that case someone else please jump in here and help us out!
