I'm having an issue getting a Novatel USB760 to install on my Dell Latitude D610. The laptop has Windows XP SP3 on it. I'm getting missing "Data Interfaces" so that the device is not seen by Windows. I have taken the following actions which have not helped the issue at all:
1. I contacted Verizon Wireless who went through the installation process with me and verified I had installed the Access Manager software correctly. I allowed the installer to search the internet for the proper drivers for the device, but none were found. Once VZW verified that and the device was still not installing I was instructed to exchance the device for a new one.
2. Visited the local VZW store and got a new device but still received the same issue, missing "Data Interfaces". The manager worked on the installation for 2 hours and he and I came to the conclusion the missing drivers where basic USB drivers, not device drivers associated with the USB760 Air Card.
3. I took the USB device and installed it on my home computer, again Windows XP SP3. The installation went without a hitch and I was able to use the device to connect to the internet. So, the issue is not with the device, it is with my laptop.
4. I visited the Dell support web site and downloaded the latest BIOS and numerous other upgrades, including the chipset, network and modem, input devices, system firmware, system utilities and video. The problem still persists.
5. Searched the Windows support web site for USB760, missing Data Interface. I came away with nothing related to this issue.
I'm at a loss. Where can I find this missing Data Interface driver?
Thanks,
Jim
